VR Simulator for Mining

Becker-Warkop VR – realistic underground work simulations

See how Becker MineTrans monorails and other equipment behave in real underground workings – in a safe virtual environment. Our VR system supports operator training, technology presentations, research and development activities.

The technology is developed and presented on selected dates and as part of project and industry activities.

Technology in practice

Training, presentations and process testing in one tool

The VR simulator allows operator training without stopping plant operations or involving real machines. Virtual workings recreate difficult underground conditions – including limited visibility, curves, junctions, and varying inclinations.

The same system is also used to communicate Becker-Warkop technologies and to verify design concepts within research and development projects.

VR workstation – a 1:1 operator experience

Becker-Warkop VR combines real control panels with a virtual mining world. The operator uses familiar devices while the system replicates the behavior of Becker MineTrans machines in various operating scenarios.

Training workstation

Real control without real risk

The simulator is equipped with an operator seat, joysticks and control panels consistent with solutions used in Becker-Warkop machines. As a result, training takes place in an environment as close as possible to real underground work.

Scenarios include monorail driving, maneuvering at junctions, operating in limited visibility, and responding to unusual or potentially hazardous situations.

The instructor can monitor driving parameters and discuss errors and best practices in real time, shortening the onboarding time for new operators.

Demonstration mode

Panoramic VR presentation for multiple participants

In demonstration mode, the VR workstation can be connected to a panoramic screen, enabling presentations and discussions of training scenarios for larger groups.

Observers see exactly what the operator sees in the virtual underground working – the ride, maneuvers, safety system responses, and the behavior of Becker MineTrans machines.

Applications of Becker-Warkop VR technology

The VR system has been designed to provide practical support for mines, training departments, and engineering teams. Below are example areas of application.

Operator training

Safe onboarding of new crews

Realistic driving scenarios with diesel, battery, and electric monorails help prepare operators for difficult conditions without using real equipment or limiting mine operations.

Technology presentations

Show the underground environment safely

VR can serve as a technical communication tool for Becker-Warkop solutions. Participants can “enter” a virtual underground working and observe operating machines at full scale.

R&D and planning

Support for engineering projects

Simulation of routes, loading and unloading points, and different transport configurations allows better planning of investments and selection of MineTrans solutions for specific mining conditions.

The scenes below come directly from Becker-Warkop VR virtual workings. Thanks to their high level of realism, operators adapt faster to underground work, and engineering teams can better evaluate underground conditions.

Benefits for mines and partners

Implementing VR is not just a modern gadget – it is real support for safety, efficiency, and technical communication.

  • Training without stopping production or involving real machines.
  • Reduced accident risk during equipment training.
  • Repeatable scenarios and measurable training results for operators.
  • Better understanding of MineTrans systems by management teams.
  • More effective communication of Becker-Warkop solutions through virtual scenarios.
  • Support for engineering processes and testing of new transport concepts.
